While in Costa Rica my girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to go on a trip with Desafio Adventure Company. Our first trip was to lost canyon. After a scenic ride in the back of their 4×4 “jungle limos” we arrived at the trail head. The guides geared us up and gave our group thorough instructions on safety and rappelling. Once in the canyon the guides spread out along the trip to aid us in different stations from huge rappels to jumping rocks and swims. The trip ended with a 220 ft rappel into an incredible open gorge. The steep hike out took us to a Desafio lodge where we were served a traditional meal of beans, rice and fresh fruits.

The next day our second canyon trip was cancelled due to dangerous water levels so we went rafting. The river was class 3 but had slightly more volume due to heavy rains. Our raft guide was knowledgeable, professional, and excited to be on the river with us. The river was just as beautiful as the canyon, and along the way our guides pointed out both flora and fauna. After take-out, Desafio staff drove us to a soda (a small local restaurant) where we had the best local food of our six week stay.

Desafio runs an excellent service. All of our guides were professional knowledgeable and friendly. They made sure to share information and history about the plants, wildlife, and people. Our two days with Desafio was the highlight of our trip and I would recommend them to anyone seeking adventure in Costa Rica.
