Pura Vida Adventures owner and head guide Joe Moerschbaecher was  profiled in the January 2015 issue of Our State magazine. The article discuss his career guiding and developing the sport of waterfall rappelling and canyoneering in the Asheville North Carolina area.  Established in 2006 Pura Vida Adventures was the first company to bring guided waterfall rappelling canyoneering trips to the Asheville area. In addition Pura Vida was the first commercial guide service east of the Mississippi to become accredited by the American Canyoneering Association.

The article entitled Wild Thing: Making a Career Out of Canyoneering is written by adventure writer Graham Averill and features Paradise Canyon Pura Vida Adventures newest canyoneering trip, which was recently named by National Geographic online as one of the top 50 best Summer weekend adventures.  Graham’s story also mentions the various other adventures offered by Pura Vida.  The story also discusses the Geaux Pura Vida T-shirt, Tye Dyes, and the Grateful Dead. Since establishing there canyoneering program in 2008 Pura Vida Adventures canyoneering and waterfall rappelling trips have twice been highlighted by National Geographic publication.  In addition we have done canyoneering and waterfall rappelling based film work for an episode of the Travel Channel’s Extreme Waterparks and filmed a commercial for US Cellular.
