North Carolina Adventure Backpacking

Pura Vida Adventures hiking guides have worldly experiences from Central and South America to Europe and hold advanced wilderness medical certifications. Our staff knows the backcountry trails of Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest which surround the towns of Brevard and Asheville North Carolina, NC. They will provide you with a trip that offers spectacular views and scenic waterfalls.

Whether your goal is to have a casual tour of many North Carolina waterfalls or to hone your skills in backcountry camping and hiking, your guide has the knowledge and skills to suite your needs. Our local guides are trained in the classroom and in the field and will take you to the areas of interest on or off the beaten path in the forests around Asheville and Brevard.

North Carolina Hiking and Waterfalls

Pura Vida Adventures offers half and full day hiking programs and waterfall tours that emphasize safety and fun. These programs are great for families, couples, friends, retirees, and groups vacationing or living in the Brevard and Asheville areas. Participants of all ages and ability are welcome.

These Brevard waterfall tour programs take place in Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest. These forests provide easy access to great views, gorgeous waterfalls, super swimming holes, lakes, and creeks.

Pura Vida Adventures’ outpost is located on Hendersonville Highway (Hwy 64) just seconds from the entrance to Pisgah National Forest and Dupont State Forest . Situated just outside Brevard, our location is convenient to Asheville, Hendersonville, Greenville/ Spartanburg and the surrounding areas.

Perfect for beginners, no experience necessary. Great way for a family or friends to spend a morning or afternoon discovering the forest its waterfalls, vistas, and swimming holes, while vacationing in the Brevard and Asheville area.

This program focuses specifically on touring the various waterfalls which surround Brevard and Asheville North Carolina in Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest. It requires minimum hiking and is accessible to participants with physical disabilities.

It involves more driving than many of our other trips, but is a great way to discover why this area is known as the “Land of Waterfalls” and “Land of the Sky.”

North Carolina Adventure Trekking/Survival Training

Pura Vida Adventures Backpacking and Trekking program known as North Carolina Adventure is for fit people looking to challenge themselves on multi-day backpacking trips and one day trekking trips over 5,000 and 6,000 ft. peaks. This program also focuses on instruction in southeastern backcountry skills such as map and compass navigation, cooking, selecting a campsite, and identify weather hazards. It can be customized to suite the needs and wants of the participant. This backpacking and hiking program emphasizes safety, instruction, knowledge, and fun.
Instruction in the technical skills of the backcountry trekking including map and compass navigation, southeastern mountaineering, and identifying weather hazards.
Full day program (7 – 9 hours)
Limit of 4 participants. Great for fit participants wanting a long hike with significant climbs, basic rope work, and a backcountry experience. A great course for participants looking to hone backcountry and navigation skills in the mountains surrounding Brevard and Asheville North Carolina.

All food and gear supplied. Instruction in backcountry skills such as cooking, campsite selection and setup, packing a pack, and navigation.
Length: 2 days, 1 nights
Up to four people——– $1,500 for the group, of up to four people
All food and gear supplied. Instruction in backcountry skills such as cooking, campsite selection and setup, packing a pack, and navigation.

Shuttles

We supply tranportation to the trail head at Daniel Boone Campground. You leave your car at Davidson River.

$125 for groups up to 2, $150 for groups of 3, $20 each additional person after 3ppl that is waist deep.
